Dez was a similar project coming out a top 5 talent with character concerns. For Dez they got a life coach for Gregory they got Greg Hardy. Is it any wonder he hasn't resolved his issues Well... other than never failing a drug test at OSU or being diagnosed as bi-polar... Which begs the question. Gregory failed tests at Nebraska... and says it was to cope with his "condition". Am I to assume that the state university in Nebraska has no ability to diagnose students that might be bi-polar? I'm not absolving Jerrah for drafting the dude because I maintain you don't take a stupid risk like that in the 2nd round (and in the case of the Cowboys they might be better served avoiding risks like that period) but it sure seems to me Nebraska didn't give one shit about the kid other than his sack totals. About the schools not giving a shit so true cause the football teams are what bring in the coin. Look at all the scandals that the schools tried to sweep under the rug only to be exposed thanks to the instant news of the internet. Imagine how many never saw the light of day before the internet. And yes Dez and Gregory had different issues and Gregory's was a more complex one to support and have the safety net systems in place for him I was just giving Jerrah another roast about Hardy as he was well known as a locker room cancer in Charlotte and here Gregory spent most of his time in the same room as they were in the same position group for film and strategy sessions. This could not have been a help for a rookie who needed guidance to watch this POS be a disruptive and unprofessional shit time and time again. Gregory would have probably had a better chance if he was in a better locker room like New England Baltimore or Seattle's where I'm sure they would have made sure he was put in a position to succeed. He might still not of but his chances would have been exponentially better in their locker rooms

I'd call it more a case of piss poor drafting and bad personnel management but your idea has some merit too.

A terrible start to the season with three key players suspended. I'm an eternal optimist but this is very troubling.

You are going to be VERY thankful especially early that the Pokes grabbed Elliott and best of all the rook is a good blitz blocker and is a 3 down back. I'm sure the Romonator will love him

Link - Cowboys DeMarcus Lawrence on suspension: "I messed up.""My disappointment, it's on me," Lawrence said. "I messed up. I learn from my mistakes and I just have to move on and get everything right." Dude was suspended 3 times in college and now gets a 4 game suspension which means he has failed multiple tests since turning pro. Color me skeptical.

Kellen Moore was just carted off the field with a broken right ankle.
What was Nick Foles' number again?

Looks like Foles is going to KC and rejoin Reid. Latest rumor is they are talking with the Lions about trading for Shaun Hill.
Great. Let's give up another draft pick for a QB that will be gone next year.

But the market isn't there and there's no need to force it. Give the kids the reps for now. In about 3 weeks, see what the market looks like. I just don't want another Cassel trade where we give up a draft pick for essentially nothing.

Appears the deal with Travis Frederick is done. Highest paid center in the league.
Meanwhile, Lucky Whitehead could... go... all... the... way!!!

Figured I'd post this as I've had plenty of folks at work say we should move on from Romo now... we can't. And for those who think Romo should retire right now... he won't. Here's why. Player | Year Base Salary | Prorated | Cap | Dead Money & | Cap Savings | | (Guaranteed) | | Number | Pre 6/1 | Post 6/1 | Tony Romo | 2016 $8,500,000 | $12,335,000 | $20,835,000 | $31,935,000 | ($11,100,000) | | 2017 $14,000,000 | $10,700,000 | $24,700,000 | $19,600,000 | $5,100,000 | | 2018 $19,500,000 | $5,700,000 | $25,200,000 | $8,900,000 | $16,300,000 | | 2019 $20,500,000 | $3,200,000 | $23,700,000 | $3,200,000 | $20,500,000 |

12/11/2016 Giants 10 - Cowboys 7
Welp...
First off, any and all credit must go to the Giants. Steve Spagnuolo is one hell of a Defensive Coordinator and he had that defense ready to go last night. As Collinsworth said more than once - they were spectacular. He clearly had a plan to focus on slowing down Zeke, keep Dak in the pocket and make Dak beat the Giants defense from there. He couldn't.
It was obvious the coverages and blitz packages had Dak confused all night. One thing I've noticed with Dak when he struggles. His footwork goes to crap. And when it does, his passes are all over the place. Saw it in the first half against the Steelers, saw it again against the Ravens and I've seen it against both the Vikings and Giants. In most cases, he would figure out what was going on, settle down and play well in the 4th quarter. Not last night. Rarely did he leave the pocket and his footwork was all over the map. He was clearly uncomfortable. I've heard plenty of discussions that the play calling could have improved things (examples - more play action on 1st down and more "pound the rock" with Zeke). I don't know. While Zeke had 100 yards I never got the feeling the running game was doing a lot to control the game. The QB just wasn't good last night. He played like a rookie.
So - on to the elephant sitting in the corner of the room wearing a Romo jersey. Is it time to make the switch? Maybe. Garrett was grilled about it after the game (I got a chuckle out of one tweet where Garrett responded by saying "01110111 01100101 00100000 01101100 01101111 01110011 01110100.") I think it depends on how Dak rebounds from last night. The NFL is hard. And for a rookie, I can't imagine how hard. But he's clearly not where he was a month ago. And if he looks as lost next Sunday night as he did last night, I wouldn't hesitate to put Romo in. I don't know that the Cowboys would have won last night with Romo - the Giants were just that damn good on defense. But going forward, it has to be a part of the plan. And I don't want to hear any "Dak looking over his shoulder" shit. I don't sense him being that mentally fragile. If he is, we all misjudged him.
Bottom line - the Cowboys are just fine. Everything we as fans want (Home field and the #1 seed) is right there in front of us. But if we have to face the Giants in the playoffs...
Then again - I don't see anyone wanting to face that defense in the playoffs. Not when they play that good.

Cowboys slam door on talk on benching Dak PrescottPosted by Mike Florio on December 12, 2016, 11:11 AM EST EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - DECEMBER 11: Dak Prescott #4 of the Dallas Cowboys celebrates with Terrance Williams #83 after scoring a 31 yard touchdown against the New York Giants during the first quarter of the game at MetLife Stadium on December 11, 2016 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images) Getty Images Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had the worst night of his 13-game NFL career. But that wasn’t enough to get the Cowboys to consider flipping the switch back to one of the best quarterbacks in franchise history. Asked after the the 10-7 loss to the Giants whether the team considered benching a struggling Prescott for a healthy Tony Romo, coach Jason Garrett said this, via Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: “No, we feel good about Dak playing quarterback for us.” Owner/G.M. Jerry Jones was even more forceful. “No. No. No. No,” Jones said, via Davison. “Not at all. Let me just say that.” Still, it was only a few days ago that Jones said something far different about the prospect of Romo playing this year. “I think Romo is going to get his opportunity,” Jones told Gary Myers of the New York Daily News. “I don’t want it to happen. But I think he may get his opportunity to get us a Super Bowl. While that’s a mixed bag when I think about it — that means you don’t have Dak out there — but it means, what a story, one for the ages, if he’d step in there and this year help us win a Super Bowl on the field with his skill. That can happen here. We’re not talking about a bus driver out there. We’re talking about a guy who can go out there and move our team.” Is Prescott moving the team in the way Jones envisions? The rookie has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in three straight games, and his 165 yards on 37 passes from Monday night equate to 4.46 yards per attempt. “First of all he’s got 13 NFL ball games at a high level under his belt,” Jones said after the loss to the Giants. “What’s he got four interceptions now? Is it four? OK, so he’s got four interceptions in 13 ball games. I feel good about our quarterback, and I like what we are at the quarterback position as well. We should have asked and wanted him to make the drive that might have won this thing for us tonight. We were within striking distance. I don’t want to make excuses. Most of what happened to us offensively tonight was a well coached [Giants] defense more than a failing of a player or players.” The Cowboys would be smart to ride it out. They’ve already determined that Prescott is the future; yanking him at a time when he’s going through the normal growing pains of becoming a full-time starter could make it harder for him to reach his full potential. Indeed, Prescott has 20 touchdown passes and four interceptions, with a season average of 7.9 yards per throw. He also has a passer rating of 102.7. Those numbers had him near the front of the MVP race before Sunday night’s game. Jones nevertheless will get antsy if last night’s performance becomes a trend. Jones desperately wants to win a Super Bowl with a team that he built, and the brass ring is closer than it’s been since the last time the team won a Super Bowl with a team he didn’t build. At some point, Jones will become tempted to try to finish the job with Romo, confident that Prescott will recover from the actual or perceived indignity by 2017, when he’s the clear-cut starter without Romo behind him. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/12/12/cowboys-slam-door-on-talk-on-benching-dak-prescott/
