Jets in mourning or something?
Antonio Cromartie's second stint with the New York Jets is over.
The team released Cromartie, the four-time Pro Bowl selection at cornerback, on Monday. He was due $8 million next season.
Cromartie responded to his release with an Instagram post thanking the team and fans.
"To Jets Nation the most important people that make Sunday's (sic) so fun thank you for welcoming me back," Cromartie wrote. You guys are the best fans ever and thank you for sticking next to me through my tough times last season you rock. Keep the excitement in the stands because Coach Bowles will have the guys right this upcoming season."
Cromartie started 15 games this season but had no interceptions, marking the first time since his rookie year that he was without a pick. He spent 2010-13 with the Jets and then followed coach Todd Bowles to New York after one year with the Arizona Cardinals in 2014.
With the Jets now having an opening opposite Darrelle Revis, cornerback Marcus Williams could take on a bigger role with the team in his third NFL season
