Perhaps no team benefited more from a minor league signing last season than the Royals with Madson, and this year they’re back at it again. The Royals have more filler in their 15 signings than the Indians and Braves, but they’ve also got more star power, as far as star power in minor league contracts is concerned.
Travis Snider represents perhaps my favorite minor league contract of the winter, a solid fourth of fifth outfielder who still feels like he has untapped potential, and could serve as a nice complement off the bench to the light-hitting platoon of Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando in right field. I suspect Snider will crack the Opening Day roster as the team’s fifth outfielder/pinch hitter. Dillon Gee also strikes me as a sneaky deal for a guy with a pretty big name relative to his minor league free contract peers. On a lesser scale, Brian Duensing and Clint Barmes were both contributors last year, while Ross Ohlendorf and Peter Moylan have decent tracks records, though admittedly less to show for it in recent seasons.

He doesn't belong there to begin with....No clue why Gordon isn't there......Moose had a runaway 'career year' and his OBP was like .340.....
Gordon will do that in his sleep. Maybe they are trying to protect Moose there and realize that he wont hit shit anywhere else in the lineup.
Not sure but I think Moose struggles this year, and Yost will be slow to recognize the need to move him.

Ned likes Gordon as a run producer, and they dont trust Moose in that role yet.

The Kansas City Royals won the World Series a few months ago, but they’re still very salty towards the New York Mets. They’ve had two World Series celebrations during their season-opening series and after receiving their rings, the team played “American Woman” while Noah Syndergaard warmed up.
Syndergaard proceeded to strike out 9 over 6 innings in a 2-0. After the game, Snydergaard, with a stone face and a man bun, told reporters he thought it was, “funny.”

+ Gordon....that is 4 solid hitters........and 5 outs in the lineup.........maybe you can count Escobar for 1/2.......... 4 1/2 outs.
Lost Zobrist & last years Moose from the lineup. That is why I thought Moose is the key, he has to hit for it to be a good lineup.

ELIAS: The KC bullpen has not allowed a run in 32 innings, the longest streak in franchise history, longest by any AL team since BOS 2004

In Ventura's case, an extra mph on the fastball has made a huge difference. He was throwing it an average of 95.4 mph before the break and getting misses on 11 percent of swings. But since the break, the pitch has averaged 96.3 mph and netted a 19 percent miss rate. The last three starts, he has averaged 97.5, 97.4 and 97.4 mph, respectively.

Thus far Strahm is notable for his 94 mph fastball and his reverse splits. Right-handed batters are 1-for-21 with 11 strikeouts against him (and 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts Tuesday).

With Wade Davis out, Kelvin Herrera has capably filled in as the Royals' closer. He is 7-for-7 in save chances this month and has held the opposition scoreless in nine of 11 appearances.
The Royals' bullpen has the best ERA in the majors in August (1.54), nearly a full run better than the next-best team, the Blue Jays (2.52). They also rank best in the majors in WHIP (0.84) and hard-hit rate (7 percent).

This is why i thought contending teams should be chasing Chapman and Miller....This time of year especially, having a great pen wins you big ball games

Report: Indians, A's agree to deal for veteran OF Coco Crisp www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/17426553/cleveland-indians-oakland-athletics-deal-outfielder-coco-crispCLEVELAND -- Coco Crisp is headed back to his first baseball home. The switch-hitting outfielder is on the verge of returning to the Cleveland Indians, who have agreed in principle to a trade with the Oakland Athletics, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Tuesday night. Major League Baseball still must approve the deal, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The trade would have to be official by Wednesday for the 36-year-old Crisp to be eligible for the postseason. The Indians entered Tuesday leading the AL Central by 4½ games. Crisp spent his first four seasons in the majors with the Indians and became a fan favorite because of his catchy name, hustle and happy-go-lucky attitude. Cleveland traded him to Boston following the 2005 season. With left fielder Michael Brantley done for the season following surgery and Abraham Almonte ineligible for the playoffs following a PED suspension, the Indians have been looking for outfield depth over the season's final month -- and perhaps into October. Crisp is batting .234 with 11 homers and 47 RBIs in 102 games this season for the A's, who are in last place in the AL West. He played for Indians manager Terry Francona with the Red Sox. Crisp has plenty of playoff experience, having appeared in 31 postseason games and one World Series. A .266 career hitter, Crisp has been with Oakland since 2010.
