I've been distracted with hockey so I haven't had a chance to opine on the current state of the Cowboys draft. My thoughts...
- I would have been happy with either Ramsey or Elliott. I'm happy with Elliott. I look forward once again to games where we have 34 + minutes time of possession. You can argue that that's too high to take a RB. But for this team and this offensive line, taking a RB is perfect. And for those who say we have too many RB's... McFadden? Seriously?
- Taking Smith over Jack... I guess the logic is Jack's knee is degenerative while Smith's was nerve damage. And - Truth be told, had Smith not gotten hurt he is easily a Top 5 player. My only problem with the pick is that it doesn't really fill a need (linebacker). But I also understand that the top DE's were all gone so it makes some sense to take a guy who - if healthy - can be a cornerstone of the Defense for years. For what it's worth - Collins didn't fill a glaring need either. But we are weak up the middle and he should definitely help there.
- I'm realistic. This team has so many holes that to expect them to get filled this draft is foolish. We are no where near Carolina or Seattle... and that's going to take a few drafts. For me though, today is the day where this draft is going to pay off or be another "meh" draft. They don't draft for shit on Day three. They have a terrible history on Day three over the last several seasons. I expect them to draft defense exclusively today (although I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on a WR as this is Williams' final contract year and he hasn't shown me one single reason why he should be signed to a new deal).
All in all - I'm OK with things so far. Once again - I want to see today. They have a history of sucking on Day 3.

Dak Prescott was in Dallas more in the last month than I was. It was a mere formality that the Cowboys grabbed him with the supplementary 4th pick.

Yep. They also tried to move up in the 2nd Round to get Ogbah.

Yep. They also tried to move up in the 2nd Round to get Ogbah. If Jaylon Smith can return to his pre-injury form the Cowboys will have hit a home run but some sources report that his nerve damage is serious and he could develop foot drop which would prematurely end his NFL career. I hope it isn't that serious.

Dallas had long been rumored to have preferred Prescott as a backup option to Tony Romo. There are physical, athletic, and leadership traits comparable to Tim Tebow, but Prescott is vastly more pro-ready as a passer. He's an ideal backup as he continues to work on overall consistency, but he'll bring a dynamic element if his name's ever called. --Mark Dulgerian

I hope it isn't that serious. I'm trusting that Dr. Cooper knows enough about the injury and his treatment of it that the kid will be ready to go in 2017. That's pretty much all we have to go on. If so, he's the steal of the draft.

Sit... learn... and develop. The way most QB's used to do it.

Shaun Hill doesn't put fear into DC heart's either Canuck Should be interesting as the Cowboys and Vikings should be favored to win their divisions in '16
