It has been quite some time since I really felt like talking about the Detroit Pistons.
This year they got off smartly, winning 5 of the first 6 including the first two of a six-game road trip.
Then the air came out of the balloon and they dropped four straight on the west coast. It was excusable to lose to the Warriors and Clippers. But losses to the Kings and then the last game against the Lakers showed Reggie Jackson's lack of experience, filled with turnovers.
Give them credit for last night though. They played hard vs the defending Eastern Conference champion Cavaliers. The hustle was there from start to finish. They even managed to scale a 13 point deficit, then Jackson surprised LeBron with some really brilliant defensive plays down the stretch.
When the dust settled, foul a Drum surprisingly did not work for Cleveland. And Reggie hit six straight clutch free throws to pull out an unlikely win.
The Pistons, now 6-5 are going to have their difficulties still this year but I really like them making the Eastern Conference playoffs for the first time in six years.

They have become way too reliant on Isaiah Thomas. They need to get him back on the bench and get Marcus Smart back in the starting lineup.

Watching Brad Stevens get choked up before the game was tough.

You realize the Celtics up until recently have played pretty well. Their marquee players are IT2 and I guess Avery Bradley. I'm sure with Carmelo on the Celtics Stevens could keep the team above .500

Derrick Williams has been solid for them off the bench. And Porzingas was the best guy coming out of the draft. They just need a solid PG. Which I bet they trade for next month.

Probably because Porzingas has been playing professional ball since he was 15.

Porzingis is just this year's version of Jeremy Lin with about 6 extra inches. "Ohhh a tall guy made a deep three!" Hyped by the NY media so guys like Dirt will jump back on the bandwagon.

He's more than just some novelty out there.

Chances the 76ers go on a 12 game winning streak tonight are worse than your chances of winning powerball.
LOL.

Trade Deadline about 3 weeks away...... Team that makes the biggest splash? Danny Ainge is a mastermind at trades. Remember the deal that sent KG and Paul Pierce to Brooklyn? We all criticized him, but it turned out for the better. Remember the deal that sent Rajon Rondo out of Boston? Looks like the Celtics got the better end of that deal as well! Personally as a Heat fan, I'd love to see a young 3-point shooter come to town and probably Luol Deng shipped out. Even if Deng's a former Blue Devil, he's got a lot of money and Justise Winslow is the next big thing who has handled everything thrown at him. But yeah, I'd watch out for the Celtics if anyone wants to do business with them, and I'd actually keep an eye on the Hornets and Al Jefferson. I've sniffed turmoil between Jefferson and the Hornets coach from game one (versus the Heat) and I wouldn't be surprised if they ship Al Jefferson out.

After the Spurs were annihilated by the Warriors last night, I don't think anyone would have a problem saying Golden State is the unanimous best team in the NBA?

We can't forget the game last night was in Golden State, where the Warriors are blameless this season, but still. I think Popovich could outcoach Kerr a game or two, but the Warriors are just destined for a repeat.
