Philadelphia Eagles fans are still pretty proud about signing DeMarco Murray away from the division rival Dallas Cowboys.
They’re stealing a page out of the New York Jets’ playbook by raising money to fund what they’re calling the “We Got DeMarco” project.
One fan set up a GoFundMe page trying to raise $1,800 to fly a sign that reads “We have Demarco! – Eagles Fans” during the Cowboys’ blue-white scrimmage on Aug. 9th. At the time of publication, the site has $1,025, with some fans donating up to $50.
But that pales in comparison to what Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy did.
Cowboys fans retaliated with a banner of their own that will fly over Eagles camp on Aug. 9. This sign was initially going to read “We got the division,” until Hardy chipped in a $300 donation.
The initial goal for the sign was $1,350. At the time of publication, fans had donated $1,554 in a total of four hours.
The project’s creator, Ashley Hill, told fans that Hardy suggested an update to the banner. Hill says the new banner will read “WE STILL DEM BOYZ!” As far as the extra money goes, there’s a plan for that... Anything over the goal amount, sans GoFundMe fees, will be donated to a Dallas Charity/Hospital which the Cowboys are associated with...
