So... Austin, Little Rock, Tucson & Orlando applied for new bowls. If approved, there will be 43 bowl games this year.
After the demise of the BitCoin Bowl - we need more?
Seriously?

Seriously? Its an opportunity to stimulate a city's economy in a big way. I say, the more the merrier. And there is no way the NCAA is going to approve 4 more bowls any time in the near future.

If ESPN wants four more bowl games... there will be four more bowl games. NCAA will take the big bag of money and look the other way.

It took forever for GoDaddy and New Era to get their games approved. I think many more palms have to get greased than just ESPN.

How they gonna fill all those bowls, allow teams with a losing record to go as long as they finished in a certain place in a conference? So we'll get the 8th place team from the Big 12 vs the 9th place finisher from the ACC, both with 5-6 records. Joy.

And ESPN will broadcast it... around 20,000 will show up to watch it... and the teams will get around $500k each to play in it. Yup.

I think Otis is right. It will happen as soon as some creative rationale for it is presented to sell it. then there is always the possibility of some deal running out and the NCAA getting more money by moving a bowl game that already is in place. That is the most likely scenario I think. Sharks in the water and the NCAA playing them agaisnt each other to up the pot of gold.
