Howe: Patriots, Revis take contract talks down to the wireWith Darrelle Revis ready to become a free agent at 4 o'clock this afternoon, the question looms: Can he and Patriots reach a deal before then? After their 11th-hour agreement with Devin McCourty, the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe wonders if we won't see another last-second resolution from the Pats. "Normally they draw the line in the sand and they are completely unwilling to jump over it." Howe said Monday on Sports Tonight. "[But are] they creating a pattern here because they're in a unique situation, coming off a Super Bowl . . . "They anted up, they paid McCourty, and who knows? Maybe they saved one last push." Howe said he believes the news that broke Monday afternoon -- that the Pats wouldn't pick up the $20 million option on Revis' contract for 2015 -- was leaked by New England as a "negotiating ploy." "I wonder if they have one more trick up their sleeve late [Tuesday] morning, maybe early [Tuesday] afternoon, before they really have to make that call," he said. One thing, says Howe, is certain: "I didn't think it was going to be easy at the start of the process, and clearly they're going right down to the wire at the end of the process." www.csnne.com/new-england-patriots/howe-patriots-revis-take-contract-talks-down-wire
