Reggie Jackson is a 6' 3" guard with a 7 foot wing span.
He was a star 6th man with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Last year in the quarterfinals, Jackson lit up the Grizzlies with a 32 point, 9 rebound game that likely saved the series for the Thunder. But with Russell Westbrook running the show there, Reggie was very eager to get the keys to his own club.
Well he gets his wish in Detroit. The Pistons remain a ways from being nationally relevant (Hell, even locally relevant...), but at least they now have two of the five key pieces in place to build off (and for a long time). C Andre Drummond and PG Jackson are both very young with great upside.
Of course the Pistons need to sign him after this year (restricted FA), but that should be easy. They lose D.J. Augustin and Kyle Singler in the deal. Augustin will be a valuable backup at OKC with the tendency of Westbrook to get injured frequently. Singler is a role player.
What about Brandon Jennings? It takes the pressure off the Pistons to have little need to rush him back next year while he recovers from achilles surgery. But it probably ramps up the sense of urgency in Jennings' mind. In the long run, its all good for Detroit. Competition spurs production and the better BJ recovers, the more value he will have as the next trade chip as Stan Van Gundy continues forward on the road to making this team good again.
