when I was a kid, around 9 or 10 I guess, I stole a pack of baseball cards. My Mom made me go back and pay for them and apologize.
I haven't knocked off a bank yet.

I wouldn't call the police on my son unless he had done something horrible. Then I would do it so that they wouldn't end up shooting him. I would try to get him to turn himself in if he was guilty.

Yea especially if they have him on video the it is a matter of time before he is caught. Better to get a lawyer and cooperate on a minor theft charge like this, plus the whole responsible for your actions lesson. Not being a responsible parent shows the kid it's ok to steal.
