No problems with shortening the game, Z. There is a lot of wasted time. Just don't make rules regarding forbidding a manager to make defensive shifts. Manfred knows just enough, imo, to make him dangerous.

I like it. The games are often long and B-O-R-I-N-G. Anything that helps move the game along and more offense is a good thing to me.
Offensive production is so bad now that they might as well go ahead and lower the mound. It will happen sooner or later. They can always raise it back up later if desired.

So you don't appreciate a good pitching duel....or fantastic defensive plays that seem to be impossible to make? I got an idea...let's give them a T....or make the pitch have an arch that is no higher than 12 feet or lower than 6 feet in height... I happen to like baseball the way it is...each pitch CAN be a game changer...even in the bottom of the 9th with two outs you still have a chance....unlike being behind 20 with 2 minutes to play....

Well, my opinion is just my opinion. I do like to see a good pitching duel every now and then but watching 1-2-3 innings every night bores me to death. I believe they will lower the mound eventually, though. There are a lot of guys like you out there that do not want the game to change and I realize that my opinion isn't shared by everyone. If they don't do something to speed up the games they are going to continue to lose baseball fans to other sports.

That's my opinion completely. Honestly amazes me that baseball manages to get any younger fans at all. Seeing as all or most of them seem to have ADHD, it is no wonder. Funny, as an old dude, this was not a problem for me growing up. Nor was it ever a problem to get the most bang for your buck sports wise, with extra inning games adding more value still. But, people don't have the time or desire to sit still for 3 hours anymore, so........

Guess some folks should stick to watching slo-pitch softball...game only lasts at hour and there is lots of offense SMH

The one thing that will dramatically improve the pace of play will probably never happen and instead get a stupid pitch clock. You want to shorten the time it takes to complete games? Stop letting the TV networks dictate when you return from commercial breaks in between innings. Sadly, that will never happen.

The pitchers are not the ones who usually hold up games. It is the hitters. They step out and go through a ritual after every pitch. When I played you stayed in the box, took a quick look at the 3rd base coach between pitches, and we weren't allowed to get out of the box after every pitch.

This has merit....HS and College games don't last near as long as MLB.... OK...so we've determined that both MLB and NFL last just over 3 hrs...and the actual playing time is between 11 and 14 minutes. So, perhaps if they allowed the MLB players more physicality? Maybe allow the baserunners and infielders to hit each other, and the outfielders given the chance the throw the ball at the runner and knock him out?

I seem to remember a commercial a few years back that advocated full contact golf....goalie to protect the hole....

With more folks seemingly now football fans, and as football is so much for physical, this would fly with a portion of that fanbase. The meathead portion, but still...... Me, I appreciate a sport with finesse and intricacies, and not just a bunch of HULK SMASH.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Don't make me run up to you and then fall down causing you to get a red card!!!!!

Try Cricket, you can fall asleep for a full day and still not miss anything.

Yes, the entire population seems to have become ADHD my friend.
I am a most impatient cuss (ask my wife), but she will also add that I am only impatient about things that are annoying; mandatory but not welcomed; procedural (unnecessarily);etc.
But I lose track of time when I am watching a baseball game. It is an inherent part of the beauty of the game. It is untimed. Would I like less nut scratching in the batters box and less general time wasting on the mound, yes. But it's just a minor annoyance.
Unfortunately, you and I are clearly in the minority here I think, bigd.

Look, we all ran around for 3 hours, and get to leave with a 0-0 tie. Woo fricken hoo.

Listen up you reprobates and fellow troglodytes.. It is NOT about how long the games are. They are the same as an NFL game within three minutes either way. For some millennials and teens caught between pimples and pussy the game is not video like for them. too cerebral. sooo, since attendence is solid and climbing for some teams and tv revenue is up and up and up, who friggin cares? Leave the game alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and don't give me the younger crowd bullsheitt. heard it for the last twenty years.

The game is the game and the beer was always cold. Millenials not invited........unless they order a beer and put away the fucking phone.

I played two games a week and tournaments on weekends until I was 42. Good times. The game is fine, some teams have more revenue than others, but they always did and I don't see any owners not making big money, especially when they sell the team. You can still buy seats to games pretty dam cheap as far as entertainment goes. fans of the game are fans of the game. and you can't buy love or real fans fy shaving a few minutes off of a game. frig em.

Our team went to a tournament in Houston once. It was early Spring and we hadn't played a game yet but the Yanks sure had. We were guaranteed three games in the one day tourney. We were batshit surprised that we won the first game! We got our asses handed to us in the final two however. When the day was done, the team we beat had a pickup truck full of beer in the lot and we had a fucking awesome tailgate party. That was one awesome weekend!!!! What I remember of it!

Also loved GC saying "You can say that the count is 3-2, but you can't say Roberto Clemente has two balls on him".
