Apparently the Rams are interested in trading for Nick. If this happens things could get very very interesting. Namely me burning all of my Eagles paraphanalia and buying Rams stuff.

And I just heard the list includes the Titans, Texans and another team I can not remember right now. If the list is this long itr ain't teams inquiring about his availability it is the Eagles letting these teams know that he might be available. This might stem from the Kelly Roseman power struggle and the fact that if the Eagles went after Mariota they would need to 1st pay up for trading up and as they are in need of far more than a QB, trade off an asset that would only depreciate if they succeeded in drafting Mariota. I even at that do not believe Kelly would be willing to pay a RG3 like ransom but it could be buffered if they trade the player he would replace. If the Bucs like Mariota over Winston I would say this is moot but if like everyone is starting to say that they want Winston and he doesn't pull anymore red flags and does well in the psyche eval. and interviews. Than this possibility is going to play it would be tough for the Eagles if they really are interested in Mariota getting him any later than 4 or 5 as teams like the Jets Rams and Texans if they are supposedly being offered Foles would know that the Eagles are going to want to trade up so really it would seem that their most likely trade partner would be the Titans (if they value Foles over Mariota) and to move from 20 to 2 would be very expensive even if they added Foles into the deal. By the draft value chart pick # 2 is 2,600 points the 20th is 850 If the Eagles do this Kelly will either be labelled a genius or the new head coach of U of New Hampshire in 3-4 seasons

No way TB passes on Mariota. It would take a RG3 type ransom to get to #1. I want no part of Winston. None. At all. Moving up that high to get anyone else in this draft is insane. QB is the least of our worries. CB, S, MLB and Oline all need to be adressed. If anything I'd rather see them trade down and stock pile picks instead of selling the farm to move up. Hopefully it is teams expressing interest and not the other way around.

Seems to me Chip would be better served by focusing on adding some pieces to his defense instead of continuing to cast his leering eye on MM. Offense wasn't the problem. That poor secondary getting exposed the last few weeks of the season was. Fix that and I fear the Iggles.

That poor secondary getting exposed the last few weeks of the season was. Fix that and I fear the Iggles. I agree and disagree. The defense definitely needs help, primarily the secondary. But the offense was a disappointment IMO. Chipper's team was putting up big scorboard numbers but there were a lot of special teams touchdowns in there covering up for the offenses' struggles. So... is that on Foles?
Or - would a true deep threat at WR be a better option? And maybe another O-Lineman?

Regardless - if the Rams pulled the trigger on a deal like this, I sure would be interested in getting Sam-I-Am to come to Dallas, get healthy and back up Romo for a couple of years. Not that there is a chance in hell of that actually happening... but I still believe the kid has what it takes to succeed in the NFL. I'd be willing to give him the "Plunkett" treatment of getting the body right and getting the head right too.

Mariota unless the Titans fall in love with him could slide all the way to the Jets at 6 as there are lots of questions of him but they basically pertain to the lack of film with him doing what NFL teams need a QB to do to be successful (lack of pocket play, throwing deep outside the ability to read defenses thru progressions etc)

I have no interest in either Winston or Mariotta. IMO Winston is a textbook bust: he has all the physical and on field skills needed to succeed but the intangibles aren't there. And intangibles are what separate franchise QBs from the rest of the pack in the NFL. And Mariotta just stinks of nepotism. Not to mention I'd rather have a statue in the pocket than another scrambling QB. We've had scramblers in Philly for over a decade. It never got us anywhere. Just multiple lost seasons because the starting QB was injured on he sideline. Give me a guy who can throw a football and survive a 16 game season. I believe you've read into the negative hype machine that the media has with Winston again his problems are in social settings not in the locker room. He might still be a bust but he has far more upside than Mariota and plays in a prototypical NFL offense and if not them there is no other 1st early 2nd round QB in the draft

Winston is NFL QB material.
Mariota is a nice kid with a nice story and , well, he is just a really nice guy and will have a nice career in the NFL as a backup QB.

But - he cannot possibly be worse than Brandon Weeden.

I'm sure Bradford isn't the NFL's worst QB. He may even be able to step up into a serviceable backup role.
I don't think he has the stability or durability to put in as a high-dollar franchise player or even a reliable full-season player.

The thing about Chip's offense that made it work so well in college besides the hurry up part of it was the QB's ability to make reads before the snap and after and his speed to escape getting sacked.
Foles is good but he isn't really fast enough or smart enough to make this team a SB contender.
Mariota has the potential to be exactly what Chip needs to be a possible SB contender.
Chip will not worry about the defense very much until he has the man he wants at QB. QB has been and always will be the top priority in Chip's scheme. Until he finds his miracle QB he will not worry too much about the defense. He was the same way at Oregon.

No one has proven (lasted long enough) you can get even 4-6 years out of a pro-QB in that offense.

Shorter seasons and less physical defenses in college football as well. Inferred, but yea, exactly. Maybe if Mariota had 25 more pounds on him without sacrificing quickness? He's long and thin. (6'4, 219). Bulk would put him in Andrew Luck size/athleticism and it might work.

Bulk would put him in Andrew Luck size/athleticism and it might work. He's definitely too skinny. He got injured in the Ohio State NCG. NFL defenses will crush him. I would be more inclined for them to take Hundley at 52 or more likely at 84

If I am an owner of an NFL team and we drat a QB in the first round and he fails, the OC goes out the door with him, and most likely before him. Rule number one for coaches: Never ask a player to do something he cannot do. Rule number two: Figure out what he CAN do and go there.
