I am just curious what most people think happened. I also hope everyone knows that just because I am Patriots fan, I do not hold it against anyone that doesn't like or even "hates" my team. I am quite used to that and find it amusing lol So feel free to answer honestly Before voting please watch this short video(from Nov 2013) that shows the ball inspection process mmqb.si.com/2015/01/22/deflategate-video-how-nfl-officials-check-game-ball-pressure/Also note, from the same link: So if the balls were tampered with it would have been out in the open, in front of several NFL official types, not to mention all the cameras..and we're talking about 11 balls,,, And I myself have asked- in defense of Brady's comments about how during the game he's just taking the hike and throwing it, not inspecting the ball- why couldn't the officials tell the balls were underflated? Apparently it's hard to notice the difference. from the same link, but there are several other sources that have done similar tests with the same results Personally I'm thinking there is something to Bill's explanation and that also probably the officials kind of half ass the process/("eh, close enough")and or the equipment they use is not very high quality. Not what you'd expect from a billion(s)dollar business anyway. Very hard to believe that the Pats could get away with actually deflating them right before or during the game given all the cameras/officials that are at such a huge game. And then this from a Vikings/Panthers game earlier this year espn.go.com/blog/minnesota-vikings/post/_/id/11218/nfl-aware-of-game-ball-incident-during-panthers-vikingsSo according to reports the Colts tipped off the official to watch for under inflated balls, www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/deflategate-baltimore-ravens-indianapolis-colts-deflated-footballs-012115 the Pats are already closely watched anyway, and the league says after the Vikes/Panthers game they will be watching for any tampering of the balls,,,and yet as far as we know they have no proof of the Pats doing anything wrong...But to hell it with it, they're guilty according to most everyone, just,,,because! Anyway, what's your theory?

As I stated in another thread the rule is too vague and needs to be rigidly defined. The balls should be inflated by the leagues officials not the teams for one. The ball boys should be employed by the league I don't believe now that there will be any fine. But I also don't believe just like the ineligible/eligible receiver issue that although they are within the letter of the law they are in the intent of same

there's a report out there that most of the balls were closer to 1 psi under and only the ball that the Colts interepted/turned is was 2 psi under. Not sure if true or not but it's picking up steam

The league officials DO inflate/deflate the balls. Or they are supposed to...they are then kept guarded until just before gametime. Hence why I can't see how the Pats could get away with what some think they did.

I wish this would all just go away. I accept Bill's statement. Physics could have played a role.

15 seconds in "you got any of them that are any good?" "12 and half, close enough"

mmqb.si.com/2015/01/22/deflategate-video-how-nfl-officials-check-game-ball-pressure/ from the article In the video above, the crew inspects the game balls in the officials’ locker room for proper inflation—between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch. Head linesman Wayne Mackie and field judge Bob Waggoner are seen checking the pressure and taking some of the air out of balls to bring them down to regulation. Back judge Dino Paganelli, working at the locker room sink, reinflates balls that fell below regulation up to the 12.5-13.5 psi range. Line judge Jeff Seeman describes how teams work the K balls, the balls used only on specials teams, which come out of the box on game day and are given to the teams to work up for 45 minutes before the game. I believe they do not put the air in them if they fall within the parameters when they receive them they just inflate if low or deflate if over I can't see the video for some reason but in other stories this is how it was explained

The vid showed them doing both and the one guy says "are any of these going to be good?" or something like that, seemed like most of them were too low because the other guys says "eh close enough" lol Just seemed they didnt take it all that serious...and they were being filmed!

Bill Nye does not impress me. Not one bit. He really offered nothing to refute what Bill said..."no you need one of these things"..."go Seahawks" "seems legit"~ those that just won't accept that maybe nothing shady was done no matter what

Welp, Glazer just reported there's a locker room attendant they found as a 'person of interest'.
JayGlazer @jayglazer Breaking news: sources tell @foxsports the NFL has zeroed in on a locker room attendant w Patriots who allegedly took balls from officials locker room to another area on way to field. Sources say they have interviewed him and additionally have video. Still gauging if any wrong doing occurred with him but he is strong person of interest

Game was played in a soundstage in the Nevada desert. The President knew about the plans but let them happen to rally the media.

I fully believe that every single QB in the league is "unofficially" allowed a little leeway in ball preparation. They have it worked out to a system with the trainers. A little scuffing. A little air out. A little breaking-in. Whatever the QB wants within reason is standard practice. The league doesn't care. QBs just see it as part of the natural game prep process. Pressure is a little high? Just pop a needle in for a couple seconds. Who freaking cares? Nobody ever measures this stuff, right? Tom says, "Break it in a little bit. Just like I like it." "Sure, boss!" says the trainer. Wink and a nod cause everyone does it. What is surprising to everyone in this case is that it was called. They measured the air? No effing way. It's like pine tar above the handle. Happens every day in teh bigs. No one cares. But call it just once...

I mean, it's really ridiculous and like a 3 day process. So yeah, everyone does some form of it.

Great read. If all of this is done to game balls, why is this something they feel the need to deny at a press conference?

So... now we have a scapegoat that can be drawn and quartered for this terrible injustice to the world of professional sports.
Hope the dude doesn't get the chair.

Great read. If all of this is done to game balls, why is this something they feel the need to deny at a press conference? I think it's due to the rules regarding proper inflation. With all of the crazy prep that Eli does, it's apparently within the 'rules'.
