You know, it's funny. Had you asked me if Ernie was still alive or not, I truthfully could not have told you, however, to hear the news still gives me a sense of loss. While playing the man was great and class and with his passing, the world seems poorer, even if I haven't thought about him in years.

One of my childhood heroes. Still have some of his old cards. What would a shortstop who could hit like him make in today? No batting helmet, pitchers came inside and meant it and still guys like him and Aaron and others performed. That was no picnic with guys like Drysdale and Gibson throwing downhill from that higher pitching mound at you. A life well lived.
