If I were Brady, I'd have the one of the left framed and put in my rec room!! Priceless.

Still no word from the ref who has the responsibility to test the balls? I guess he's in hiding and the media was told to shut up about it. Good little media.

Meanwhile... the Seahawks are just going about their business quietly with little or no fanfare.
You KNOW they are enjoying every bit of this circus. Out of sight... out of mind.

I would ordinarily say "advantage Seahawks" but this is the Dark Lord we're taking about. The media can perch on his little finger for all he cares. If I were Brady, I'd immediately get a "My Balls are Perfect" sweatshirt made. Many opinions out there from the science community that a football does indeed lose pressure going from room temp out into the cold. But we don't want to let such facts get in the way of a good scandal. I'm sure the media were told to stay away from the scientific community.

And to prove my point. Sorry a kids party balloon was all I could come up with on short notice. Heck I live in Canuckistan, I've seen this first hand picking up balloons from the store in winter.

The Colts balls were all properly inflated when the balls were weighed at halftime. As Brunnel said the only reason they would deflate the balls 2 lbs is cause that is what the QB likes the ball to be like There could be no other reason Except maybe a rogue ball boy (I'm sure that is what will be the Pats defense)

I'm sure the media were told to stay away from the scientific community. that assumes the (air in the) football comes into a thermodynamic steady state or equilbrium with its surrounds. there is pretty much no evidence to date that this happens in the situation of this game. (I am having my students build up models to test this) d this of course ignores that fact that if the balls lost 2psi over a half, a contdrol freak like Brady should be throwing a hissyfit anyways, as the performance of the football would markedly change play to play to play

I still believe it's going to be hard to prove anything though.

After the Adrian Peterson f/up, he doesn't know whether to shit or wind his watch. I wish there were some decent investigative reports out there instead of the usual cutting and pasting of tweets.

Both teams supply 12 footballs that are weighed and marked by a game official they are then kept till the officials go to the field where they are handed off to ball boys on each side of the field to be rotated iinto the game when every deemed necessary by the officials there are also 1/2 dozen balls especially for special teams play on each side

So far they're just trying to claim plausible deniability. Will that work?

Belichik-season, $2.5M Pats- $5M, loss of 1st and 2nd round pick the effects of the deflated balls didn't change the outcome of the game, but of ALL seasons to put Goodell and the "integrity of the game" under scrutiny... and then double down and do it leading into the league's worldwide media spectacle and showcase game? I think the money you're talking about is way off. I could see the other penalties though.

Now if this is the case the League has ended up with major egg on the face and they created a massive black eye for the leagues integrity
Obvious that the Pats haver done their homework on this and the ineligible receiver rule (which both of will surely be altered in the off season )
It made no difference in the Colts game They whupped 'em.
But even if they followed the 'letter of the rule' they surely didn't follow the intent of the rule and that could be argued as 'Bad sportsmanship' or 'using the vagueness of the rules to your advantage' , depending on which sideline you stand on. Thing that irks me is all the legal acumen they have at their disposal and they can't make a rule that has no loopholes (or no grey just black and white)

And now... Belichick is blaming the officials for approving the balls. Isn't it a little late to be hopping on that bandwagon?
Seriously - Little Bill is coming off looking pretty damn desperate right now. And I have no dog in this hunt. Either belly up with one story and stick to it or just tell the reporters you can't talk about it and ask the league.
And - don't throw your QB under the bus. Bad form.

Tom Brady will be suspended for the Super Bowl and Belicheat will be suspended all of next year "When I came in Monday morning, I was shocked to learn of the reports about the footballs. I had no knowledge of the various steps involved in the game balls and the process it went through and what happened. So I learned a lot about that." - Bill Belichick
"I have no knowledge of anything. I have no knowledge of wrongdoing. I have no problem saying that - as far as I know." - Tom Brady
"...ignorance is not an excuse." - Roger Goodell
Precedence exists... as much as Goodell won't want to admit it. It's either that or his officiating crews are under the microscope. And he certainly doesn't need that.
The Ginger God is in quite a pickle here.
I wish that pinhead would step down. He's starting to drag the league down. One week to SB and nobody's talking about the game. That's on his head.

This years SB is starting to look jokeworthy. Too bad they don't have a commissioner capable of controlling things.

Did you guys see Bellichick's second press conf? Very good job of explaining how air pressure inside a football varies.

regarding your usatoday link, see my earlier comment. there is a LOT of assumption to be made to use that simplistic of a "scientific" analysis. I do take the 1 thing I do for a living seriously, and I would flunk a student who --- all things equal-- just went with that level of assumption/analysis and no explanation of how it is justified.

The league is in a tough spot here.
If they "nail" the patriots after the superbowl......they will look bad. Why did you wait until after the superbowl? You are fining and threatening to fine seahawks players over some pretty minor shit, but you can't find the time to get at the Patriots for what is a much bigger deal?
If they "nail" the patriots before the superbowl..........for the very casual fan, the superbowl will lose it's intergrity. NOTE ZIG: i said very casual fan.....the one who watches maybe 2-3 games a year, but the one who the superbowl is marketed towards.
This leads me to think the Patriots will not get nailed. I think they get a minor draft pick taken away and fines. I think this will happen after the superbowl.
Another note to remember.....the whole "you can't prove we did it", is a very very very very meaningless point. This is not court, the NFL doesn't not have to prove without doubt anything. If evidence suggests something fishy...the NFL can act on that.

I agree that in the past Goodell would skip past "without a doubt" and just hammer Little Bill. But after the year he just had - I can't see him taking that approach here. in the end - what I really think happens is this stupid rule about each team "preparing" footballs goes away. It worked before Peyton cried about changing the rule... and it'll work after. Maybe the league could even buy some of that mud MLB uses to prepare baseballs. Doesn't seem to be a problem there.
