ESPN: ‘Angry, distraught’ NFL finds 11 of 12 Patriots footballs were under-inflated for AFC title gamePOSTED 8:42 PM, JANUARY 20, 2015, BY Q13 FOX NEWS STAFF, UPDATED AT 10:32PM, JANUARY 20, 2015 NEW YORK — The NFL has found that the New England Patriots in last Sunday’s AFC Championship game had 11 of their 12 game footballs under-inflated by 2 pounds of (PSI) as required by regulations, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported Tuesday night. Mortensen cited “league sources either involved or familiar with the investigation” for his information. The NFL declined comment on the report. But Mortensen said one source described the league as “disappointed … angry … distraught” by the findings. The investigation still needs to determine how the footballs became under-inflated, ESPN said. The game balls were required to be inspected an approved by the referee two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff — and no alteration is allowed once they are approved. It is also yet to be determined what, if any, penalties may be imposed on the Patriots. The balls are required be inflated between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch and weigh between 14 and 15 ounces. The Patriots will play the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 49 in Glendale, Ariz., on Feb. 1. q13fotwitter.com/2015/01/20/espn-angry-distraught-nfl-finds-11-of-12-patriots-footballs-were-under-inflated-for-afc-title-game/

I'm glad the NFL is on top of this. The other leagues better be proactive. You never want to see basketball, baseball, and hockey players gain a competitive advantage from this.

Do you think this is a big deal, Zig? I don't. I think it's funny to be honest. But at least it gives us something to talk about during an otherwise slow time in sports. Plus a Jets fan gave me crap for starting a thread about the Jets tampering with Revis while "ignoring" this story. Tons of stories out there about other QBs doing the same exact thing but nobody seems to care, Pats do it and they deserve the death penalty lol

It isn't going to be the difference between winning or losing a game.

Hmmmm....Basketball's being under-inflated.....pucks having a weight off center....baseballs with raised (or lowered) seams. Might make some sports a little more fun to watch...kind of like Globetrotters...

I loved the long explanation in the comments regarding the drop in air pressure because of cold weather and science and calculations and shit. Then further down, a guy is like "The Colt's balls were fine." lol
