You must be so proud of your boy. lol there is nothing about that man that pleases me, he is a jerk and seems to be quite proud of it. did you note how much lighter his drawl was during that exchange. I'm quite sure it got much heavier when he was interviewed while walking out of the committee meeting |

Tarrant County GOP sought an election advantage with failed effort to shutter college voting locations

The Tarrant County GOP revealed in a recent resolution their belief that eliminating voting locations at college campuses would have helped to improve Republicans’ odds in the upcoming elections.
This month, Tarrant County commissioners blocked a measure related to the proposed closures, which Republican County Judge Tim O’Hare supported. Two Republican commissioners who voted against the measure have received intense criticism from their party.
“Tarrant County Commissioners Manny Ramirez and Gary Fickes, Republicans elected with the support of the Republican brand and the Republican base, voted with Democrats on a key election vote that undermines the ability of Republicans to win the general election in Tarrant County,” the Tarrant County GOP resolution reads.
Ramirez has pushed back on the criticism.
“I took an oath to serve Tarrant County and defend the Constitution. To me, this includes ensuring free, fair, and equal access to voting in elections,” Ramirez wrote. “After prayer and reflection, I could not, in good conscience, support eliminating voting sites that served over 9,000 citizens in the last election.”
Tarrant County has been known to be one of the largest conservative urban counties. However, its makeup has changed in recent years and it has become more purple than red. In 2018, Democrat Beto O’Rourke won the county in his bid to unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz. In 2022, voters elected Republican Tim O’Hare as Tarrant County judge.
On a related note:
Travis County officials sued Attorney General Ken Paxton and Secretary of State Jane Nelson over the state’s attempt to block the county from mailing out voter registration applications to eligible voters who aren’t currently on voter rolls. In the federal lawsuit, the county accuses the state leaders of violating the National Voter Registration Act.
