Cashman free agent acquisition chokes in a big spot. Cashman really knows how to pick 'em. Actually he hit an extra inning lead HR, the night after he, ya know, hit a game winning HR Doesn't seem that long ago that you were excited about Solarte, Headley and Capuano, too. Young sucks. When he goes 2-20 you'll change your tune. Red Sox got an outburst like this from Darnell McDonald once. It passes.

Doing his part by sitting out. MT @goldbergkc David Ortiz told some of the Royals, "This city needs you guys to take them to the playoffs."

Yankees scored 1 run in 20 innings today. They're done. Oakland, KC, and Seattle battling it out for 2 spots. Cleveland and Toronto have an outside shot.

In the past 20 seasons, two men have had as many plate appearances as Derek Jeter (587) with fewer extra base hits (19).

Good thing Jeter's intangibles help them win. I would have let Betances throw two innings to close the game last night. Guy is a machine. Lucky for us haters, Girardi has a little Yost in him.

Are the Yankees going to finish the year as the 9th best team in the AL, or could they rally all the way to 7th?
