so much going on I had no idea the olympics started today. Hadnt heard squat about it. Just seems like there wasnt much hype for some reason. You may know this but I have 2 relatives that were Olympians. An Uncle back in the 70's and more recently...not even sure what she is to me bu same last name...and there arent many of us lol...She won a few medals in fencing Mariel Leigh Zagunis (born March 3, 1985) is an American sabre fencer. She is a two-time Olympic champion in the individual sabre (2004 and 2008)[2][3] and the first American to win a gold medal in Olympic fencing. She was Team USA flag bearer in the 2012 Summer Olympics Parade of Nations. She has two Olympic bronze team medals (in 2008 and 2016) and is a five-time Olympian (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020).[4] |

Robert Zagunis (born October 1, 1953) is an American rower. He competed in the men's coxed four event at the 1976 Summer Olympics.[1] Zagunis is of Lithuanian descent.[2][3][4]

Mariel sounds like a bad ass. Does she do any fencing coverage for NBC? lol after she won gold in 2004 I got a few emails from young girls that thought I was her, saying they were going to start fencing, she was their hero/inspiration and all that. I think it was 2012 she did some commentator stuff...havent seen it the last few times so I dont know |
