Welcome back BigD. Hope all is better.
I expect Uggla to be cut shortly, but you never know.....
Regardless, good no risk signing. Maybe he'll do the Pat. Burrell thing for the giants! Lol

Better yet, you can hope that he does what Scutaro did when he was brought in. Oh, the circle of baseball life.....

The Red Sox did not have a position player on the American League All-Star team this year. When did this last happen? 1993? Per Dan Shaugnessy: 1961 - they had two pitchers named that year.

Great question Cereal.

Tanaka? Drop him and pick someone else up? can't find any new info on him. The last update I see was 2 weeks ago,,,that said it's possible he "only misses 6 weeks"... I'm holding on to him for now but everyone's situation is different...depends who's available to pick up for starters

Hang on to Tanaka for now. You kind of have to, as you will not find like value on the waiver wire. Just keep your eye on the info ticker to see how he is doing, and I will also post updates somewhere when I hear them as well.

You are right the waiver wire pretty much is shut tight right now.

This just in - Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday "it's too early to call" whether the rest program prescribed for Masahiro Tanaka's right elbow will work. The other option is obviously surgery, so the Yankees are going to give the program all the time they can before making a decision. Cashman did add that Tanaka is feeling better since he was shut down on July 10 due to a partial tear in his ulnar collateral ligament. He's still weeks away from any potential return to the mound

If they were smart they should shut him down regardless.

Uggla has been released and is reportedly in talks with the Giants for a 1 million dollar deal. The Giants reportedly want to send him down to AAA and see if he can get it together. Good luck.
Heard all that on a radio talk show this morning.

Heard all that on a radio talk show this morning. The Braves are on the hook for the $19 million remaining on his contract. Uggla's new minor league deal with the Giants comes with an August 1 opt-out

Red Sox principal owner John Henry told the Boston Herald that extension talks with impending free agent Jon Lester have been tabled until after the 2014 season. Lester doesn't want to be distracted any longer by in-season contract negotiations and probably wants a taste of the open market -- where there could be crazy money flying around this winter. The 30-year-old left-hander is putting together the best season of his career at the perfect time, boasting a 2.50 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 142/31 K/BB ratio in 137 innings. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reported earlier this month that the Red Sox were prepared to offer him "$100 million for five years, or thereabouts."

So it's a win win for the Braves because we get to save a little money instead of hearing him gripe from the bench.

As long as the question does not lead to an avatar bet, then yes. Haha, not with Kershaw, Greinke and Ryu going. I'm passionate, but not stupid. Let me first reiterate that I am an odd dude. This I know. I bring that up, as I don't get more excited about a Giants / Dodger matchups than any other. And, the why is due to the fact that playing fantasy ball for so long has 100% totally changed my fandom, how and when I root, and how I see and deal with the game. It is due to this that I find all games important. And, just by my physical location, I see dozens more A's & Giants games as I do Dodger games. So, every game to me is a must watch. How that is not too long or bad a ramble.

More bad info for you Red on Tanaka, from today - Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka is supposed to rest for six weeks before doctors determine if he needs Tommy John elbow surgery, but 10 days into the process things aren’t going well. Bryan Hoch of MLB.com writes that Tanaka “is still reporting discomfort in his right elbow” following a platelet-rich plasma injection and general manager Brian Cashman described the situation as “not good that he’s still feeling it at this stage.” Rarely does the rest-and-rehab route work in the case of a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and right now surgery sure seems likely eventually for Tanaka
