Love him or hate him, it is still pretty good being Jeter. "Thanks for kicking our ass all those years. Here's a guitar. We wish you could have kicked our ass a few more years." Sorry but the new trend of giving presents to your opponents is for schmags.

Yeah, I guess he is pretty good -
Since Yadier Molina became a regular catcher, the Cardinals have allowed 240 fewer stolen bases than any other team

Arod is thinking about retiring next year - it might be nice if you got him something when the Yankees come to town."

Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino started (or, more accurately, re-started) a minor-league rehab assignment yesterday at Single-A, going 0-for-2 with two strikeouts at the plate and playing five innings defensively in right field. Victorino has been on the disabled list since mid-May with a strained hamstring, but back problems repeatedly derailed his recovery process and have now taken over as the primary issue for rehabbing. He could be cleared to rejoin the Red Sox’s lineup shortly after the All-Star break, but will have to stay setback free while playing a full nine innings in the minors first and that hasn’t happened yet. At this point why should he even return?

I don't recall this happening until last year with Mo. What other teams/superstars have done it?

Not too many others, but I can't put my finger on any other exact who's. I just remember the Kareem one really well, and, that has to be 25 years ago aprox.

Though I can't remember any being as big a deal as Mo was last year.

Buchholz seems to finally be getting his shit together. 23:1 K:BB ratio in 29.2 innings since coming off the DL, and he just turned in 3-hit, 12 K shutout of the Astros. It's good to see him finally throwing strikes.

And Holt turned in a 5 hit game, bringing his line up to .327/.371/.463. He's been one of the few exciting things about the Sox this year. He's still riding a very high BABIP, so the offense will come down, Hanrahan got hurt and didn't really contribute in any way, but the Sox could still end up winning the Melancon trade.

I had a feeling he'd get it together the kid frustrates me tho, he can be sooo good when he's "right"...which seems to only be half the time

Can someone explain to me how the Nationals can be in first place, but only have 1 all-star?
And it was Jordan Zimmerman who is now injuried and will miss the game.

I'd say "thanks AL for giving the Sox HFA!", but it's more likely Trout decides to give me his brand new Corvette than the Sox actually making the playoffs.
