Don't know if you know it, but that is a phrase that is used sparingly in Texas. I believe it is best described with another phrase: "THEM'S FIGHTIN' WORDS" and there will be punches thrown.
Teddy is just following rule #2 of operating as a born again MAGA republican. It it works...claim credit. If you voted against it and it's working...mumble a lot but ultimately at the end of your statement claim credit for it and if you're really feeling it...claim you were a co-sponsor

amazingly other than the Austin American Statesman, none of those papers have ever been described as anything other than extremely conservative. It's been a long time since I've read the Statesman so it's entirely possible that it isn't as liberal as it used to be.
