Man I look at my draft board and realize until Free Agency I can't even start a mock draft. Never has their been so many possible scenarios with actual better than replacement QB's available in free agency. Alex Smith has started the dominoes moving with Cousins, Bridgewater, Keenum, Bradford and Brees free agents. Now Brees is going to resign in New Orleans pretty sure. And the Browns Cards Broncos Jets Vikings not having a bona fide NFL starter at QB come the 14th of March. With the Bills Jaguars Dolphins not guaranteed to want to move on with their incumbents. Then you have the Chargers Giants Patriots Saints Steelers with aging QB's that have no successor on their rosters. And the Bengals and Ravens QB's are meh at QB. And the Bengals have McCarron on the last year of his entry level contract as well. That is half the teams in the league.
Now the team that signs Cousins won't likely draft an early QB this season. Bradford's knee says whomever takes him will have to have either a quality back up as he hasn't played a full season since Oklahoma. Bridgewater is coming off a catastrophic knee injury and probably won't be offered better than a bridge QB like contract if that. And for that matter anyone signing Case Keenum expecting some Rich Gannon like mid career renaissance might be on the unemployment line unless they are using him as a bridge QB to an early pick rookie.
Of all the teams on the first list above Minnesota by far have the best roster which is why if the Vikings like I believe they will, go after Cousins they should be the front runner. Possible they stay with Keenum but if I was betting I'd say they let him check out free agency and go all in with Cousins. Expect the Broncos to be in the hunt as well and the Browns I expect will sign Bridgewater of trade for McCarron and draft Barley at 1 and a QB at the 4 spot even possibly trading up to the Giants or Colts spots if they are worried their choice of the rookies won't be there at 4.
Any thoughts?

Man I look at my draft board and realize until Free Agency I can't even start a mock draft. Never has their been so many possible scenarios with actual better than replacement QB's available in free agency. Free agents: Alex Smith (Redskins), Cousins (Best available), Bridgewater (Knee), Keenum (Coach Killer), Bradford (Brittle Bitch) and Brees (New Orleans) No starters: Browns, Cards, Broncos, Jets, Vikings Looking for upgrades: Bills, Jaguars, Dolphins Kinda looking: Bengals (McCarron?), Ravens Aging Vets: Chargers, Giants, Patriots, Saints, Steelers Minnesota should be the front runner for Cousins, letting Keenum go to free agency. Expect the Broncos to be in the hunt (for Cousins) as well. The Browns I expect will sign Bridgewater or trade for McCarron (emergency plans) and draft Barkley at 1 and a QB at the 4 spot even possibly trading up to the Giants or Colts spots if they are worried their choice of the rookies won't be there at 4. Any thoughts? * Barkley is a wildcard and I have no idea how much "value" teams place on a running back. It's probable he puts in 30+ at bench and sub 4.4 in Combine/Pro day. Teams fall for the "I don't want to be the guy who passed on..." logic. * If the Browns love Barkley, I still think they take him at 1 because a QB will definitely be there at 4. No need to trade up. They may even trade back if the offer is good enough. * I'm highest on Baker Mayfield. Everything I see on the field reminds me of Drew Brees coming out of Purdue; with an even better college offense. * Barkley, Chubb, Nelson, and Fitzpatrick are all top 7-quality picks. 3 QBs will also go in the top 7. * Josh Allen = Christian Hackenberg. 56% doesn't lie. He'll drop like a rock when teams put him side by side to Rosen, Darnold, and Mayfield. I thought a bit higher of him than you Allen = Jay Cutler with a personality. Will make those great throws in a tight window then miss a wide open receiver or throw one where no one but defenders are. Rosen is by far the most talented but hard to know what he's made of. Darnold is Teddy Bridgewater with less escapability well maybe not any more

I got 2 scenarios.......the QBs go early......bad teams in need will talk themselves into liking these QBs based on seeing them throw a ball in shorts and TShirts, with no lineman in their face....completely ignoring what they saw during the college season, where none of them looked like NFL starters.
this will be good for the bears at #8 because the ACTUAL good players will fall to them.
Scenario #2.....they fall......Cleveland gets smart for once and takes 2 of the 3....Chubb, Fitzpatrick & Barkley(then fire their coach...and are the division winners from 2019-2022)....other teams solve their QB situation via FA........then mid pack teams move up to draft a QB......
maybe up to #8 and overpay for the right to draft a bad QB......
either way, I like the bears position at 8 and not needing a QB.

Vea or Gordon would be my want if I was Pace. WR doesn't have any prospects that I'd reach for that early. Biggest need I see is edge and at least resigning Fuller or they'll need a boatload of CB's to go with the WR's they will need

Its not the height...it's the arm, the savvy and the heart that make the difference.

couple excerpts In the 4Q when playing with a lead, the Colts were the only team in the NFL to NEVER pass unless they had 3 WRs on the field on early downs. If they had a lead & anything less than 3 WRs on the field, they ran 100% of the time. They avg’d 2.1 YPC. There was ZERO threat to pass. On 3rd down with a 4th quarter lead, once again the Colts were 100% run unless they were in 11 personnel (3 WRs). These runs were so predictable, the Colts posted a 0% success rate and they gained an average of 0 YPC on these runs.
Betting Offensive Quality Control coach Frank Giufre isn't putting the 2017 Colts job on his CV .

Pre-combine comparison: Barkley to Elliot. Saw a post on the other thread so I looked some stuff up. Keep in mind three things: 1. This is the latest I could find posted. Prior to Spring 2017. This is even before the Junior season and combine prep. 2. 40 time is Hand timed. Vertical & Broad obviously are easier to measure. 3. Barkley's numbers improved. His 40 was hand-timed at 4.33. Clean went from 390 to 405. His "Lift for Life" NFL Bench Press got 30 reps @225. Source of Barkley's numbers. 247sports.com/college/penn-state/Board/18/Contents/Weight-Room-Performance-Boards-51835824I find comparisons of Barkley to Elliot to be lazy. I see the point partially as Elliot was a 3 down back, excellent (college) blitz pick-up blocker. He is a good starting point

I see the point partially as Elliot was a 3 down back, excellent (college) blitz pick-up blocker. He is a good starting point Except the running styles are completely different. I’ve read good ones on David Johnson (a bit quicker), Corey Dillon, and LaDanian Tomlinson. I’ve seen the low center of gravity and leg bend compared to Barry Sanders (but the comparison lacks in other areas). Zeke is a great back and has been successful. It’s a compliment to be compared to him. But watching them both through the Big Ten, I don’t see a similarity beyond height/weight. Here are a few There is a lot to like about Barkley as a runner. He has a superb skill set with quick feet and a burst to rip off chunk runs on any carry. Barkley has good vision with quick feet and cutting ability to dart through small seems for positive yardage. With his height and build, he has natural pad level, body leans, and runs behind his pads. That makes him very tough for defenders to get a hold of. Barkley also is a shifty runner as he has moves in the open field to shake defenders. Routinely, you see Barkley juke safeties at the second level to dodge the tackle and dart downfield for more yards. Barkley's athletic ability and lower body explosion are obviously evident with how he hurdles bigger defenders regularly. In the NFL, he may not want to go vertical as much to decrease his injury risk, but his special skill is undeniable. Barkley has a good burst and hits the hole in an instant. He has a fast first-step with explosion to accelerate to the second level downfield. With his speed, Barkley is a threat to rip off a chunk run on any carry when he gets a crease with just a little bit of space. Barkley does get caught from behind by some as he is a quick, explosive runner, but he is not a fast Chris Johnson-type runner. In the passing-driven NFL, Barkley fits as a receiving back as he has soft hands and runs quality routes. He could be a nice check-down receiver as he is excellent in space and does well on screens as well. Barkley will need development in his blocking as all college backs have a lot to learn for pass protection with value of NFL quarterbacks and going against professional defenses with exotic blitz schemes. or his ex-OC "Smart, humble. He's the rare guy whose humble attitude supersedes his talent."
or What I liked: I'll do my best to condense my thoughts here. I pretty much like everything about Barkley's game. He has patience, vision and power as an inside runner. He can step through tackles or drop his shoulder and run through them. He is very quick laterally to avoid defenders in the hole. He has an excellent burst to the perimeter on outside runs. Once he gets the corner, he's elusive in space and has the speed to go the distance. He's very dependable in pass protection. He's assignment aware and does a nice job squaring up blitzing linebackers to stall their charge. He also has very strong, reliable hands. He can pluck the ball away from his frame and he's explosive after the catch. He gets rave reviews from teammates and coaches for his tireless work ethic. His weight-room accomplishments have been well noted this offseason.
