Bellator has a couple of events a year at WinStar Casino which is less than an hour drive from my place. I haven’t made it to one yet but my grandson and I keep saying we will. Hopefully one of these matches ends up there. No more excuses then.

Hopefully one of these matches ends up there. No more excuses then. From what I understand in the 8-man tournament obviously there will be 7 total fights. What they're going to try to do is have one fight on each Bellator card this year. With the finale being on their last card of the year in December.

Obviously there's some guys in this tournament that are way past their Prime. But I think if they stack the first-round matchups the right way this could be really entertaining.
A lot of fans have been wanting to see Frank Mir vs Fedor Emelianenko for well over a decade.
Both guys are way past their Prime but in theory that should even the odds a little bit right?

If I were the Bellator Matchmaker here's what I would do for round one.
Fedor vs Mir - like I said this is an old-school dream matchup. I know Mir would love the opportunity to put Fedor on his trophy wall.
Rampage vs Mitrione - two guys who have absolutely no desire for this fight to be anything other than a slugfest. Both guys with huge knockout power, this could be really entertaining.
Sonnen vs Bader - Ryan Bader is clearly the best wrestler in this competition other than Sonnen. Sonnen would definitely try to get this fight to the ground and wrestlefuck him. Bader is well equipped to defend that and has all the power to puts Sonnen's lights out with one right hand. Fans would love to see that.
Nelson vs. Mo - this would be another highly entertaining fight. Two more guys who don't mind throwing leather. And Roy Nelson has the experience and skills to keep this fight standing if Mo decides that he's tired of throwing. Nelson is definitely my favorite to win the tournament. And Mo is still in his prime.
Anyway if Snoogins had matchmaking ability over this tournament, those are the four first round fights I would make.
