I do find it interesting that everyone rips on the call but no one seems to blame Russell Wilson - the guy who threw the interception. Everyone and their mother is expecting Seattle to hand the ball to Marshawn Lynch... It's not a terrible idea to mix it up as long as your guys are able to execute the play. If Russell Wilson throws a touchdown everyone calls Pete Carroll a genius. You've got a star QB who has a history of coming up big in the clutch. He led a clutch drive at the end of he first half... And he just marched your team down the field with the game on the line. It doesn't sound absurd to me to trust him to throw the ball. One of Russell Wilson's greatest attributes is that he protects the football. It's on him to know when to throw the ball away.Russel Agreed that Wilson shoulders the blame for poor execution on a poor call. 1. Wilson put the ball in the wrongs spot. 2. The receiver ran too far in. 3. The receiver didn't shield the defender because of 1 & 2. 4. He's the wrong read on tight coverage especially when the height mismatch worked earlier on the outside.

Kevin Negandhi @knegandhiespn 3h3 hours ago I still would've given Beastmode the ball but Marshawn Lynch had 5 rushes from the 1-yard line this season.. He found the endzone just once

He found the endzone just once I also heard that stat this morning Zig. And a nice inside fake with RW rolling out might have made perfect sense in that scenario. Doesn't change the fact that the play call in itself was the worst in Super Bowl history or that Tom Brady cemented his place as the best QB of this generation.

I also have to give some props to McDaniels seeing as I've been bashing him since 2007 lol He was really pretty damned good pretty much all year and especially in the post season where he usually does his worst work.

Lockette was more to blame than Wilson he let Butler get position and was outmuscled That does not defend the call Yes time was running out, but it's not like O-linemen had to run 20 yards down field for the next snap. Plus the added factor of running time off the clock which an incomplete pass does not I really hated the excuse 'We were wasting a play' and they were in goalline defense so we passed. Pete and Darrell should have summoned their inner Woody Hayes " only three things can happen when you pass and two of them are bad.".

Sorry, but they outsmarted themselves. Lynch is no ordinary running back. They had time, downs left to use and a time out. They forgot who they are and what they are. Like woody always said, only three things can happen when you throw the football and two of them are bad. That was a bullet he threw down there from close range. Great play by the DB, but nothing says that receiver would have held on to it or not have it bounce up in the air off of him. No defense for that call. None. Parse it all you want, bad call. And that is that. Sorry 50 didn't see you already made the same Woody Hayes quote

Just like a pitcher in baseball. That you can always live with. And then there is this part. At the goal line, if you decide to pass the ball, why in the world do you throw it in the middle where all the people are packed in a short space? I say it was a dumb call two ways. 1-to pass it. 2- to throw it in the middle of the field. Ah well. It is history now and part of NFL lore. Great game all around by the two best teams in the NFL.
