Ryan Howard wants to keep playing. Is there a market for him other than playing in Lady Pickles anus? I think you have to eliminate the National League completely and then narrow it down to an AL team with a hitter-friendly ballpark who also needs a DH/1B type. Cant be a good sign for him that Napoli still hasn't signed, and word is the Rays are the most interested, and he will probably get a lot less than he originally wanted
I could see Howard land on the A's or some shit, they just signed Rajah Davis, which was a nice pickup, but the A's seem like a team that would take a chance on Howard
Howard could barely stay above the Mendoza line in the NL East and Philly's little bandbox. How do you think he will do in Oakland with the deep outfield walls and 150 feet of foul territory between the diamond lines and the stands? It would a disastah, Dirt, a disastah.

I agree, probably a disastah...Just trying to think of a small market team that would take a dart throw for cheap with some decent upside....Oakland and the Rays come to mind

Even Oakland wouldn't throw a few bucks his way on a longshot. He was like a -11 batting runs last year and can't play defense. Oakland has 3 guys in AAA who could do better.

White Sox, Fraudkees, Rangers. Astros, Orioles and Blue Jays also fit the profile but don't have the need. Maybe the Red Sox. Brittle bitch Hanley isn't going to go a second straight season without an injury.

Fraudkees just signed Matt Holliday, and if that fails, would absolutely go with one the young guys looking to get AB's before they would be signing Fat Albert....

most of these guys on this list are making 20-30 mil per year......Quintana is making 6M, 8.8M, 10.5M, 10.5M for the next for years....so cheapest, and youngest.....
Quintana has 4 more years

No chance on the Red Sox. If Hanley goes down and Sandoval can't hit, the Red Sox will be scrambling.

Lady Pickles of Rotterdam has a great take on the Red Sox offense, and how there are possibilities they aren't as good as last season

they are loaded with young pitching.......they need some young positionals to go along with Tim Anderson, Moncada, & Last years top pick Zack Collins(catcher)......
plus unloading him puts them up near the top of the draft, that adds another hopeful stud....as opposed to the middle of the pack.

He's not better than Chris Carter who is still out there. Probably not better than Logan Morrison, either. I'm surprised Napoli hasn't signed yet. I can see Howard getting a minor league invite somewhere, but would he want that?

But their pitching has improved, a lot. As much as the addition of Sale is getting all the attention, I think the improved bullpen will have a bigger impact.

Not the whitesox...they are unloading that type of guy....plus they have Jose Abreu and Melky....neither of them should be in the field every day, both are better hitters than Howard.

True. But they are apparently planning to DH Hanley a lot this year. That should keep him healthier(in theory anyway).

Is someone guessing? I think that would have been news here.

It was arguably the biggest blockbuster of the offseason, and it might also carry the greatest fantasy impact. During the Winter Meetings in December, the White Sox traded their ace Chris Sale to Boston in exchange for a premium prospect package headlined by Yoan Moncada. The mega-deal figures to positively impact the stocks of basically all players involved. Sale, who ranks among the game's elite starters by any measure -- especially strikeouts -- should benefit tremendously from increased run support. He managed to tally 17 wins with Chicago in 2016 but hadn't topped 13 in any of the previous three seasons despite immaculate numbers otherwise. Boston, meanwhile, led the AL in scoring by more than 100 runs last year. Moncada, considered by many to be baseball's top prospect, now has an open path at second base with Dustin Pedroia out of the way, so his tantalizing speed/power combo could be on display in the majors in April. Keep an eye also on fireballing righty Michael Kopech, another top prospect sent to Chicago in the swap. The rebuilding White Sox have been aggressive promoters so he may now be on the fast track.

They are high on Sam Travis, who is a 1b. But you might be right beyond that. Papi will be back in July anyway.

I could see him spending a month, or 2 in AAA to start the year. Especially if there are service time considerations.

He has all the tools. Kopech is more of a lottery ticket. He can throw a ball through a brick wall, but he's got serious maturity issues. Not sold on him.
